HOPE FAITH AND ROCKSTARS
So what’s with the name “Hope Faith and Rockstars”?
Well, let me tell you! When my daughter was in the NICU, I think it was about day 4 or 5. My Doctor had already signed release papers for me to go home and I had to leave her there (that story for another post).
At this time, she was very very sick. We were on an hour by hour basis on if she was going to make it to the next hour. I was in one of the pumping rooms in the hospitals NICU. For the most part the pumping rooms are very quite. The one I was in had 2 stations separated by a wall and a curtain hence the “most the time quite part”.
This particular time I was alone, I closed my eyes and had a vision of my daughter at about 2 or 3 years old. It was Easter she had on a little pink dress and a white hat. She was carrying a basket and running around her Nana and Pops (Grandma and Grandpa) yard with her brother and cousins hunting Easter eggs.
Right then the words came to me in prayer and meditation “You have to keep HOPE and have FAITH”.
Those 2 words kept me going throughout our NICU stay and meant everything to me. I never gave up Hoping that one day we would bring our daughter home and without Faith in God I couldn’t have Hope. Now that the sappy part is out (I’m not usually the most sappy of people)!
Onto the ROCKSTAR part of the name of this blog. In the NICU we had THE BEST nurses. One particular day when I walked into the NICU the nurse that day, Nurse Trish, gave our daughter the title ROCKSTAR. YES! It’s the perfect name for our little one that was fighting so hard. All these babies in the NICU are Fighters, Warriors and Yes ROCKSTARS! At the time, that also gave me a boost that I needed that day to think that the Nurses thought she was fighting her fight well.
What are some of the thoughts and feelings that have got you or that are getting you through your child’s NICU stay?
